Constituents:

Roots contain a small quantity of alkaloid trigonelline Leaves are De-obstrient.

Action:

Tuber posses purgative properties.

Uses:

 Dried root is nutrient. Root is powdered and fried in ghee with spices and it is given in milk as a nourishing and strengthening medicine. Leaves cure wounds and bruises. Seeds are used to adulterate black pepper.

காயவைக்கப்பட்ட வேர்ப்பகுதி உணவுப் பொருளாகப் பயன்படுகிறது. வேரை நெய்யில் வறுத்து பாலுடன் சாப்பிட உடல் வலிமை பெறும். இதன் விதையை மிளகுடன் கலப்படப் பொருளாக சேர்ப்பர்.
