Action:

Bark is Carminative, Stomachic and Expectorant Leaves are Stomachic. Stimulant, Carminative and anti-spasmodic.

Uses:

Leaves are used in scorpion-sting. The compound powder with other carminative preparations, is given in fevers, flatulence, dyspepsia and urinary diseases. Leaves are largely used as a condiment.

ஒரு இலவங்கப்பட்டைச் செடியின் இலைக்கு இலவங்கப் பத்திரி என்று பெயர். இலவங்கப் பத்திரி வெப்பம் உண்டாக்கும். ஆகவே இது உஷ்ணக்காரி (Stimulant). இது அகட்டுவாய்வகற்றுவதால் உதரவாத ஹரகாரி (Carminative) என்றும், பசியைத் தூண்டுவதால் ஜடாக்னிவர்த்ததி (Stomachic) என்றும் வியர்வையைப் பெருக்குவதால் ஸ்வேதகாரி (Diaphoretic) என்னும் கூறப்படுகிறது.

மேகசுரம், சீதளம், வெட்டை, சுவாசம், காசம் தாதுநட்டம், அருசி, இவைகளைப் போக்கும் ஆற்றல் இலவங்கப் பத்திரிக்கு உண்டு.
