Constituents:

It contains an aromatic oil, isoranillin, arists linedure and aristolochiasdure

Action:

It is Stimulant. Abortivum, Antidote. Emmenagogue, Emetic

Uses:

Root is valuable antidote to snake-bite and to bites of poisonous insects, scorpion etc. It is used both externally and internally. Rubbed with honey it is given in white leprosy. Decoction of the root and the rhizome is stimulant, tonic and febrifuge. Root is used for termination. of pregnency.

இது மணமிக்கதோர் பூக்கொடி, பாம்பு, பூரான் போன்றவைகளின் நஞ்சுக்களுக்கு நல்ல முறிவை ஏற்படுத்தும். இதன் கொடியையும் எரித்த சுட்ட சாம்பலை குசும்பர் எண்ணெயில் குழைத்து கரப்பான் நோய்க்கு பயன்படுத்தலாம். மற்ற மூலிகைகளை மருந்துக்குப் பயன்படுத்தும் போது பெரு மருத்தின் ஒரு இலையை முன்னதாக அரைத்து சேர்த்துக் கொள்வார்கள். இது மருத்தின் செயல்பாட்டைக் கூட்டும் என சித்த மருத்துவ நூல்கள் கூறுகின்றன.

நீரிழிவு, பித்த ரோகம், நீர்த்தோஷம், நரம்பு தளர்ச்சி போன்ற மருந்துகளில் இது புறமருந்தாக செயல்படுகிறது.

மாட்டு நோய்களுக்கு இதன் கொடியை கழுத்தில் சுற்றி வைத்தால் நல்ல பயனைத் தரும். பாதரசம், லிங்கம் முதலியவை களைக் கட்டும். இதை பெருமருந்தென்றும் அழைப்பர்.
