Uses:

This belongs to grass family like paddy. Oil is extracted from its leaves and it is known as Lemon grass oil”. This oil contains 75% of citral which is a powerful insecticide, therefore it is widely used in manufacturing phenyle, soaps etc. This is also used as external applicant in rheumatism and in neuritis. The oil is also used as a medicine in gastric disorders. The oil is exported from India.

நெல்லைப் போல வளரும் ஒரு புல்லினமாகும். இப்புல்லில் இருந்து எண்ணெய் எடுக்கப்படுகிறது. வெமன் கிராஸ் ஆயில் அழைக்கப்படும்.இந்த எண்ணெயில் 7,5% இட்ரால் எனும் கிருமிநாசினி இருக்கிறது. ஆகவே இது பினாயில், சோப்புகள் போன்றவற்றில் அதிகம் பயனாகிறது. கீல்வாதம். தரம்பு குடைச்சல் போன்ற புறநோய்களுக்கு இதை மேற்பூச்சாகப் பூசுவார்கள்.இந்த எண்ணெயைச் சுத்தப்படுத்தி வயிற்று பொருமல் போன்ற நோய்களுக்கான மருந்துகளிலும் சேர்க்கிறார்கள். இந்த எண்ணெய் இந்தியாவிலிருந்து ஏற்றுமதி ஆகிறது.
