Action:

Bark is Acrid, Bitter, Alterative, Febrifuge. Laxative, Anthelmintic and Galactagogue.

Uses:

The bark of this tree and milk is used in drugs. This is mainly used in the medicines for Arthiritis. cardiac problems, nervous debility. asthma and skin ail-ments. An alkaloid called Detamine” is extracted from this, This is bitter in taste. This is also used as one of the main ingredients for anti-leprotic drug. The extract of the bark mixed along with milk is used in anti-leprotic drug

The same extract is used as anti-dysenteric drug also When mixed with cyprus rotendrus it could be used in high fevers. All the parts of the plant are used as per the seasons. Many researches are conducted in this plant on various aspects. British pharmacopia 1914 clearly indicates about the usage of this plant. They claim that this plant could be used in place of quinine against Malaria.

இந்த மரத்தின் பட்டையும், பாலும் மருந்துகளிலும் பயனாகிறது. வாதநோய், இருதயநோய், நரம்பு தளர்ச்சி ஆஸ்த்துமா. படர்தாமரை புண், ஆறாத ரணம், சீதபேதி்  இவைகளுக்கு குணம் தரும்.

இதிலிருந்து “டிட்டாமைன்” என்கிற அல்கலாய்டு தயாரிக்கப்படுகிறது. இது கசப்பு சுவையுடையது. இது குஷ்ட ரோக நிவாரண மருந்துகளில் பயன்படுகிறது.

இதன் பட்டையிலிருந்து இறக்கப்படும் சாரத்தை பாலுடன் தொடுத்து குஷ்டரோகத்தை சீக்கிரம் குணமாக்கலாம். இந்த சாற்றை கடுமையான பேதியை நிறுத்தும் மருந்தாகப் பயன்படுத்தலாம். இந்தச் சாற்றுடன், கோரைக்கிழங்கு சாற்றையும் கலந்து கடுமையான காய்ச்சலுக்கு மருந்தாக பாவிக்கலாம். ஏழிலைப் பாலையின் எல்லா பகுதிகளும் காலத்திற்கேற்றார் போல பயன்படுவது வித்தையாகும். இதை குறித்து ஆய்வுகள் நடைபெற்று . 1914 Β. Ρ. (British Pharacopia) குறித்து தெளிவாக சொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளது.
