Constituents:

Bark contains tannin and ash contains consider-able quantity of potassium carbonate.

Action:

Astringent, Tonic, and Disinfectant. Styptic, Resolvent and Deobstruent.

Uses:

The leaf of this “Rhusodena” tree is used as an external application for rheumatic complaints and inflammation. The Leaf immerssedțin oil and heated could be used for the above conditions. For skin ailments the bark of the tree is powdered and mixed with neem oil and used as external appli-cation. For leprosy and ulcers it is made a paste with water and used as external application. The decoction of the bark is useful is toothache, and stomatitis. It is used as anti-dote for other poisonous seeds and herbs.

உடைமரத்தின் இலையை எண்ணெயிலிட்டு காயவைத்து லேசான சூடுடன் வாதவீக்கங்கள் காணப்படும் இடத்திலும், வாதவலி இருக்கும் இடத்திலும் தடவ குணமாகும். அந்த இலையை வீக்கத்தின் மேல் வைத்துக் கட்ட உடனே வீக்கம் குறையும்.

இதன் பட்டையை பொடி செய்து வேப்ப எண்ணெயுடன் கலந்து தோல் நோய்களுக்கு தடவினால் குணமாகும். இதை நீருடன் அரைத்து குஷ்டநோய் புண்களுக்கு தடவ உடனே குணமாகும், இதன் பட்டை கஷாயத்தை அருந்துவதால் பல்வலி, வாய்புண் தீரும். குழந்தைகள் ஏதாவது உண்ணக்கூடாத காய்களையோ, கொட்டைகளையோ சாப்பிட்டுவிட்டு வாந்தி எடுத்தால். இதன் இலைக் கொழுந்துடன் தயிர்சேர்த்து அரைத்து கொடுக்க விஷவேகம் குறையும்.
