Root is Alterative and Tonic.

Uses:

Leaves are used for abscess and for reducing swelling. The under or white side of the leaf is a muturan:. where as the upper side of the leaf is used as a discutient. Seeds are used as a tonic and as such used for rheumatism and gout. The root is medicinally used as an alterative. Mixed with vinegar, it is rubbed over the body to reduce obesity.

இதற்கு சமுத்திரபச்சை என்ற மற்றொரு பெயரும் உண்டு. இது எல்லா இடங்களிலும் பயிராகும். கட்டிகள் பழுத்துடை வதற்கும். வீக்கங்களை கரைப்பதற்கும் இதன் இலைகள் உபயோகமாகும். இவ்விலையின் உட்பக்க வெண்ணிறப் பகுதிதான் கட்டிகளை பழுக்கச் செய்கிறது. இதன் விதைகள் உடலுக்கு பலமுண்டாக்கும். இது கீல்வாயு. நரம்பைப் பற்றிய வாத ரோகம் இவைகளுக்கு உபயோகமாகும். இதன் வேரை காடியிற் கலந்து உடம்பிற் தேய்க்க பருத்த தேகம் இளைக்கும்.
