Galega purpurea or Tephrosia purpurea

Leaves, seeds, root and bark

Constituents:

The plant yields gum and brown rezin.

Action:

Febrifuge, Cholagogue, Diuretle, Deobstruent Tonic and Laxative.

Uses:

The drug is useful in cough, asthma and conjestion of the chest. The decoction of the root along with pepper gives relief in bilious febrile attacks, enlargment and obatsuc-tion of liver spleen and kidneys. Leaves along with leaves of Cannabis indica gives relief in bleeding piles and with pepper it acts as diuretic in gonorrhoea. Decoction of the root gives relief in in dyspepsia, chronic diarrhoea and in stomatitis. Powdered root is mixed with honey and is used as an externa application to ulcers.

இதன் சமூலம் இருமல், காசம் நெஞ்சடைப்பு, ஆகிய இவற் றிற்கு குணம் தரும். வேர்க் கஷாயத்துடன் மிளகுத் தூள் சேர்த்து அருந்த பித்த சுரம், ஈரல், கல்லீரல், மூத்திரக்காய் நோய்கள்,கல்ல டைப்பு ஆகியவற்றிற்கு குணம் தரும். இலையுடன் கஞ்சா இலை சேர்த்து உண்ண இரத்த மூலம் குணமாகும். இலையுடன் மிளகு சேர்த்து வெட்டை நோய் உள்ளவர்கள் உட்கொள்ள நீர் தாராள மாய் இறங்கும். வேர்க்கஷாயம், குன்மம், கிராணி, வாய்ப்புண் ஆகியவற்றை குணப்படுத்தும்.

ஈரல் வீக்கம், அழற்சி, புற்று நோயின் ஆரம்ப நிலை முதலான வற்றில் கொளுஞ்சியை வைத்து செய்யப்படும் மருந்துகள் மிக்க பலனளிப்பவை. இதனுடன் கரிசலாங்கண்ணி, நிலவேம்பு, கடுக் காய்,துளசி,கீழாநெல்லி முதலானவற்றை சேர்த்து கஷாயம் தயாரித்து அருந்தினால் ஈரல் நோய்கள் வரவே வராது.
