Tuber or bulbous root.

Action:

Astringent, Stimulant. Diuretic, Diaphoretic. Demulcent, Emmenagogue, Vermifuge and Lacta-gogue.

Uses:

This is bitter and acerbity in taste. This cures

shivering fevers, biliousness, rheumatic fever and diarrhoea. This also could be used in treating mental disorders, thirsty-ness, phlegmatic disorders, rheumatic sore, fainting, vomiting due to rheumatism and biliousness. The mixture of ginger and this tuber is smashed well and mixed with honey will cure dysentery and intestinal worms. The decoction of the tuber is effective in treating vomiting, dysentery and dyspepsia etc. The paste of the tuber when applied on the breast by lactating mothers, it increases the milk flow. This is an ideal medicine for scorpion stings.

இது புல்லினத்தைச் சேர்ந்தது. இதன் கிழங்கிற்கு கோரைக் கிழங்கு என்று பெயர். இதில் பல இனங்கள் உண்டு. இதன் சுவை கைப்பும், துவர்ப்பும் ஆகும். இது தளிர்ச்சுரம், இரத்தபித்தம், வாத சுரம்,குதிக்காலைப்பற்றிய வாயு மூர்ச்சை, திரிதோடவாந்தி போன்ற ரோகங்களுக்கு சிறந்தது. இதன் கஷாயம் அதிசாரம், வாந்தி, பேதி, சீதபேதி, குன்மம் ஆகிய நோய்களை குணமாக்கும்.

இஞ்சி, கோரைக்கிழங்கு இரண்டையும் இடித்து தேன் கலந்து சிறிதளவு சாப்பிட சீதபேதி குணமாகும். இது மலப்புழுக்களையும் அழிக்கும்.

பச்சைக்கிழங்கை அரைத்து மார்பில் பற்றிட்டால் பால் நன்றாகச் சுரக்கும். உடலில் பூச வியர்வை நாற்றம் விலகும்.

இது தேள் கடிக்கும் மருந்தாகப் பயன்படுகிறது.
