Action:

Antiseptic. Stimulant, Emmenagogue, Irritant and Abortifacient. Juice of the plant is Stimulant, Expectorant, Antispasmodic and also Anthel-mintic to children.

Uses:

The leaves are greenish grey in colour and it is. oily. The leaves smashed with alcohol is an ideal application for paralysis. For the patients of cough, the smoke of this leaves gives relief. This cures ammenorrhoea, dysentery. epilepsy, stomach ache etc., To treat the chest conjestion. of the children, the leaves ground with pepper and added with breast milk gives relief. The worms which lives on this plant is also of medicinal value. These worms fried in gingelly oil and added with celery is used as nasal drops to treat any discases of the nose.

The decoction of the leaves cures fevers. indigestion, flatulence, stomach ache, chronic chest conjestion, intestinal worm infection etc.

இதனை அரூதா, அருவதா, சதாப்பிலை, என்றும் கூறுவர். இதன் இலை பச்சைச் சாம்பல் நிறமுடையது.இது எண்ணெய்ப் பசை யுடையது. இலையை இடித்து சாராயத்தில் கலந்து சருமத்தில் கட்ட பாரிசவாயுவை குணப்படுத்தும். இருமல் நோயாளிகளுக்கு இதனால் தூபம் போடலாம். மேலும் இது சூதகக்கட்டு. சீதபேதி, காக்கை வலிப்பு, வயிற்றுவலி, ஆகியவற்றிற்கும் சிறந்தது. குழந்தைகளின் கோழைக்கு இதன் இலையுடன் மிளகு சேர்த்தரைத்து தாய்ப்பாலில் கலக்கி கொடுக்கலாம்.

இச்செடியில் காணப்படும் புழுவை நல்லெண்ணெயிலிட்டு, ஓமம் சேர்த்து வெயிலில் இட்டு மூக்கில் சிலதுளி விட பீனிசம் போகும்.

இதன் இலைக் கஷாயம் காய்ச்சல், அஜீரணம், மாந்தம், வயிற்றுப் பொருமல், வயிற்றுவலி, செரியாமை, நாட்பட்ட மார்புச் சளி, வயிற்றுப்புழு நோய், பால் மாந்தம், மாந்தவலி, மாந்தசுரம், கணக்கழிச்சல் ஆகியவற்றிற்கு மருந்தாகப் பயன்படுவதோடல்லாமல் பிள்ளைப் பேற்றினால் உண்டாகும் துன்பத்தையும் நிவர்த்திக்கும்.
