Large amonut of Sacharine matter and mucilage.

Action :

Root is highly mucilagenous, Antidiarrhoetic, Refrigerant, Diuretic, Anti-dysenteric, Nutritive, Tonic, Demulcent, Galactagogue, Aphrodisiac and Antispasmodic.

Uses:

Leaves and tubers of this climbing shrub possesses medicinal propery. Leaves boiled and mixed with ghee are applied externally to promote suppuration in boils and tumours. Root boiled in oil is used in cutaneous affec-tions. The tuber is demulcent and aphrodisiac. The infusion of the root prevents confluency of small pox.

The paste made out of this with vinegar is useful in skin ailments. Tuber extract with ghee and long pepper if consumed regularly it increases sexual activity. This cures phlegmatic and febrile temperature. The powder made out of this cures liver disorders, testicle disorders, fever, diabetes and piles,

The tuber is anti-diuretic and it is an ideal medicine for diabetes. The decoction of the tuber (100ml) if taken regularly for 21 days gives relief in diabetes. This is also effective in biliousness, gonorrhoea, tuberculosis and chronic fever etc.

இக்கொடியின் இலையும் கிழங்கும் மருத்துவப் பயனுடையது. இனிப்புச் சுவையுடையது. இதி உடளை உரமாக்கும். தாய்ப் பாளைச் சுரக்கச் செய்யும். காமம் அதிகரிக்கும், இசிவுகளைப் போக்கும்.

இதன் கிழங்கே தண்ணீர் விட்டான் கிழங்கு எனப்படும். இக்கிழங்கை அரைத்து பாலுடன் அவந்து அருந்த பித்தம் குறையும். இலைகளைக் கொதிக்க வைத்து நெய் சேர்த்து கட்டிகளுக்கு வனத்து கட்ட குணமாகும். இது வெண்ணிறமாகவும் நீளமாகவும் இருக்கும். தாக்கி தீரிளிட்டு குடிக்க அம்மையைத் தடுக்கும். உடம்பின் வெப்பு நீக்கி, வெள்ளையை நிறுத்தும்.

இதை காடியோடு சேர்த்து சரும நோய்களுக்கும் உபயோகிக்கலாம். இக்கிழங்குச் சாற்றை நெய் கூட்டிக் கிருதமாகச் செய்து தேன், திப்பிலி கூட்டி உண்ண இந்திரியத்தைக் தடிப்பாகப் போகச் செய்து சக்தியுண்டாக்கும். கபத்தையும், சூட்டையும் குணப்படுத்தும். இதன் சூரணம் ஈரல், குண்டிக்காய் தோய்களையும், அஸ்திகாய்ச்சல், பிரமேகம், மூலம் இலைகளையும் போக்கும். இக்கிழங்கு வெகு மூத்திரத்தைப் போக்கும்.

இது நீரிழிவு நோய்க்கு நல்ல மருந்தாகும். இதன் சுஷாயம் வெள்ளை வெட்டை தொந்தரவுகளை விலக்கும். ரத்த பித்தம் எலும்புருக்கி நோய், நாள்பட்ட காய்ச்சல் ஆகிய பிணிகளையும் குணமாக்கும்.

கிழங்கின் சுஷாயத்தை 100மிலி அளவு தொடர்ந்து 21 நாட்கள் காலையும் மாலையும் அருந்த நீரிழிவு நோய் குணமாகும்.
