Action:

Wood is Bitter, Cooling, Sedative and Astringent. Oil is Astringent and Disinfectant to the mucous memberances of the genitourinary and bronchial tracts also Diuretic, Expectorant and Stimulant.

Uses:

The wood of the plant is used in many ways. The infusion made out of the powdered wood cures indigestion, rever and palpitation. The wood paste made with juice is effective in treating itches, cezema, herpes, ringworm and other minor skin ailments. This is also used as an external application with honey to treat headache. The water of the sandal wood paste along with rost water, boncy and sugar if taken internally will give relief in flatulance, dysentery. febrile temperature, thirstyness etc., The sandal wood paste mixed with milk is effective in gonorrhoea. The infusion with sugar candy and rosewater, if taken internally will cure pro-lapse of the anus, diabetes and fever. Sandal wood oil cures gonorrhoea.

இம்மரத்தின் கட்டை பலவிதங்களில் பயன்படுகிறது. சந்தனக் கட்டையைப் பொடி செய்து காய்ச்சிய குடிநீர். மாந்தம், சுரங்கள், மார்புத் துடிப்பு இவைகளைப் போக்கும்.

கட்டையை எலுமிச்சம் பழச்சாறு விட்டரைத்து, நமைச்சல், சொறி, சிரங்கு, அக்கி, படர்தாமரை, தேமல், வீக்கம் இவைகளுக்கு மேற்பூச்சாக உபயோகிக்க குணமாகும். மேலும் தலைவலி, புருவத்தின் வலிக்கு தேனியரைத்து தடவலாம்.

சந்தன அரைப்பைக் கலக்கித் தெளிந்த நீர், தண்டுல நீர். தேன், சர்க்கரை கலந்து உட்கொள்ள வயிற்றுப் பொருமல், தேக் கழிச்சல், வெப்பம், நீர் வேட்கை போன்றவை தணியும்.

சத்தனத்தூளை மைபோளரைத்துப் பாலில் கலந்து கீழ் வெள்ளைக்குக் கொடுக்கலாம். இதன் குடிநீருடன் கற்கண்டு கூட்டி காய்ச்சி வடிகட்டிக் கொண்டு பன்னீர் சேர்த்து உட்கொள்ள மூலச் சூடு, பிரமேகம், கரம் திரும். சந்தனத் தைலத்தினால் வெள்ளை, உட்சூடு தீரும்.
