Constituents:

Galls yield tannic acid. Manna containe cane-sugar, Invent sugar, dextrin and water.

Action:

Astringent, Laxative, Aperient, Expectorant and Detergent.

Uses:

The branches of the tree possesses small tuber-culatous galls which are produced by puncture by insects. These are globular in shape and have a bitter astringent taste. Galls are used in pharma copoeial preparations. The decoction made out of its bark or galls cure dysentery and cholera. It is also effective in treating ulcers of the anus.

இம்மரக் கிளைகளில் உருண்டையான பூச்சிகளின் செயலால் ஏற்படும் கரணை வளர்ச்சி காணப்படும். இது பல மருந்து தயாரிப்புகளில் பயன்படுகிறது. இதன் பட்டை அல்லது கரணை யினால் செய்யப்பட்ட கஷாயம் பேதி, சீதபேதி போன்றவற்றை குணப்படுத்தும். மேலும் இது மூலநோயினால் வரும் புண், ஆசன வாயில் உண்டாகும் புண்களை குணப்படுத்தும்.
