Dried fruits and plant contains alkaloid, vitamin C’ and carotenes.

Expectorant, Antipyretic, Stomachic and Germi-cide.
Uses:
The herb is used in the treatment of sore-throat
cough, asthma, pain in the chest, dropsy and rheumatism. A decoction of the herb is antipyretic. Roots are made into a paste and if applied cures itch, cuts, wounds and severe bruises. Decoction of the roots is a digestive and relieves labour pain. Seeds and roots are pungent and acts as an appetizer. The gums produced on burning of rhe seeds cures tooth ache.
சுண்டையைப்போன்றே மருத்துவப் பயனுடையது. இதன் வேர் குடிநீர் வாத சுரத்தைக் குணப்படுத்தும்.
