Constituents:

Seeds yield an oil, which is edible.

Action: 

Bitter, Carminative, Diaphoretic, Anti-rheumatic and Emollient.

Uses:

Flowers and seeds are of medicinal use. The infusion of the flower cures cold. The oil extracted from the seed is used in cooking. This oil is used externally on the skin which is cruded due to extreme cold. The oil cake is used as cattle feed.

சூரியகாந்திசெடியின் பூவும், விதையும் மருத்துவப் பயனு டையது. இதன் பூவை குடிநீராக்கி கொடுக்க முப்பிணிகளும், நீரேற்றமும் தீரும். இதன் விதையிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்படும் எண்ணெய் சமையல் எண்ணெய்யாகவும் பயன்படுகிறது. இதன் எண்ணெ பினைத் தடய பனியினால் உண்டான கால் வெடிப்புகள் குணமாகும். எண்ணெய் எடுத்த பின் கிடைக்கும் சக்கைகள் கால்நடை உணவாகின்றன.
