Leaves and flowering tops contain a volatile essenial oil.

Action :

Astringent. Refrigerant, Stomachic, Stimulant, Diuretic. Carmand Anti-spasmodic.

Uses:

The leaves and the stem of this plant exhibits many medicinal properties. Infusion of the plant is given to patients of fever (30to50 ml). This is also used in treating hiccups and jaundice. Infusion of this plant along with lemon grass is used on treating head ache, vomiting etc. This contain iron and vitamin B’. The fruit is used in cookings Oil is extracted from this plant which is similar to peppermint oil. It is used in treating head ache. If taken internally along with water it acts as an appetizer.

புதியன் மூலியை உலர்த்திக் குடிநீரிட்டு 30மில்லி முதல் 60 மில்லி வரை சுரம் நோய்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கலாம். மேலும் இதனால் காமாலை, விக்கல் முதலிய நோய்களும் போகும். இதனையும்’கற்பூரப் புல்லையும் ஒரே எடையாக எடுத்து குடிநீரிட்டுக் கொடுக்க தலைவலி, வாந்தி முதலியவை நீங்கும். இதில் விட்  விட்டமின்’B’ சத்தும், அயச்சத்தும் குறைவின்றி இருப்பதால் இதை உணவோடு சேர்த்துண்பது அவசியம். இப்பூண்டிலிருந்து ஒருவகை எண்ணெய் எடுக்கிறார்கள். இது மேனாட்டார் வழங்கும் ‘பெப்பர் மிண்ட்’ எண்ணெயை ஒத்தது. ஆனால் காரம் சிறிது குறைந் திருக்கும். இதை தலைவலிக்குத் தடவலாம். உள்ளுக்குச் சிறிது நீரில் கலந்துக் கொடுக்க, இது வயிற்று வலியை நீக்கி,பசியை உண்டு பண்ணும்.
