Constituents:

Similar to those of cucurbitaseous plants. saponin, fixed oil, resin, proteins, sugar and starch. The fresh vegetable contains moisture and completely dried material contains ether extract, albuminoids, soluble carbohydrates, woody fibre and ash. Oil is also extracted from the seeds

Action :

Seeds are Anthelmintic, Diuretic, Restorative, Stimulant and Tonic. Oil from the seeds is a nervine Tonic. Leaves are Vulnerary. Root is Antidote, Diuretic, Refrigerant and Antipyretic.

Uses:

Oil is extracted from the seed and the oil is used externally for skin ailments. Petiole of the fruit is used. as an antidote for poisonons bites. The fruit relieves venereal diseases and excess body heat.

மஞ்சள் பூசணியின் விதையிலிருந்து எண்ணெய் எடுக்கலாம். இந்த எண்ணெயை புண், புரைகளுக்கு, மேற்பூச்சாக உபயோகிக்க லாம். இதன் காம்பு விஷக்கடிக்கு மருந்தாகும். இக்காய் பிரமேகம் திரேக உஷ்ணம் தணிப்பதில் முதன்மையானது.
