Action   :

Leaves, flower and unripe fruits Anthelmintic, Emmenagogue, Depurative and Antiscorbutic. Root is Tonic, Antisyphilitic and Antirheumatic.

Uses:

Leaves, flowers, roots, bark and fruit are of

medicinal use. Older of the tree more in the medicinal property. If a tree is more than 100 years old it exhibits the maximum medicinal property. Chronic leprosy could be cured with root fo the 100 years old tree. Ripened leaves, flowers, seeds, bark all are useful in treating pyogenesis. ulcers, ascites, oedema, eczema, itch and gonorrhoea. The paste of the leaves slighly heated is used externally on the oedema. The paste of the flower also could be used to treat eczema. Infusion of the flower buds cures menorrhagia. Yellowish secretion of the fruit is used in treating skin ailments. If it is applied on the joints it cures the inflamma-tion of the joints. Barks are cut into small pieces and boiled. Then the water is filtered and if it is consumed three times it acts as laxative. Fruits also acts as laxative. Poisonous bites, ascites, oedema also could be treated. Bark oil is used in treating gonorrhoea and other skin ailments. Fruit oil if taken internally it cures dyspepsia, ascites etc. The inner pulp of the ripened bark is well crushed and the juice if taken regularly it cures the white patchs of the lips due to leuco-derma. This is also used as an ingredient in contraseptive drugs.

பூவரசு மரத்தின் இலை, பூ, காய், விதை, பட்டை, வேர் முதலானவை மருத்துவ குணமுடையன.

நூற்றாண்டு சென்ற பூவரசம் வேர் நாட்பட்ட பெருநோயை நீக்கும். பழுப்பிலை, பூ, விதை, காய், பட்டை முதலியவை புழுத்த புண் காணாக்கடி, குத்தல், விடபாகம், பெருவயிறு, விக்கம், கரப்பான், சிரங்கு, வெள்ளை இவைகளைப் போக்கும்.

இதன் இலையை அரைத்து வெறுப்பி, விக்கங்களின் மீது வைத்துக் கட்ட வீக்கம் வடியும். பூவை அரைத்துச் ரெங்குகளின் மீது பூசிவர, அவை போகும். பூவின் மொக்கு பெரும்பாடுக்கு உடனே குணம் தரும்.

காயிலிருந்து உண்டாகும் ஒருவித மஞ்சன் நிறமுள்ள பாலைத் தோலிலுண்டாகும் நோய்களுக்குத் தடவலாம். மூட்டு வீக்கங் களுக்குப் பூச,வீக்கம் கரையும்.

சிறு துண்டுகளாக வெட்டியப் பட்டையை, தண்ணீர் விட்டுக் காய்ச்சி மூன்றில் ஒன்றாய் வற்றிய பின் வடிகட்டியேனும் அல்லது 340 கிராம் காய்களை சிறு துண்டுகளாய் நறுக்கி, நீர் விட்டுக் காய்ச்சி, மூன்றில் ஒன்றாய் வற்ற வைத்து வடிகட்டி, தினம், 3முதல் முறை கொடுத்துவரக் கழியச் செய்யும். காணாக்கடி நஞ்சு. பெருவயிறு, வீக்கம் முதலியன நீங்கும். பூவரசம் எண்ணெயினால் வெள்ளை நோயும், பிற தோலைப் பற்றிய தோயும் போகும். பட்டை

காயின் எண்ணெயை உள்ளுக்குச் சாப்பிட, குன்மநோய். பெருவயிறு முதலியன தீரும். முதிர்த்தப் பட்டையின் சதையைச் சிதைத்துப் பிழிந்த சாற்றை வாயி இட்டுக் கொண்டே விழுங்கிவிடவேண்டும். இவ்வாறு பல நாட்கள் கூட் கொப்பளித்து கொள்ளின் உதட்டில் (வெண் குட்டத்தினால்) வரும் வெண்புள்ளி போகும்.

இது கர்ப்பத்தடைக்கு செய்ய உதவும் மருந்துகளில் உபசரக்காகச் சேர்க்கப்படுகிறது.
