Action :

Roots are Bitter, Tonic, Stomachic, Diaphoretic and Antipyretic. Leaves are Expectorant, Alterative and Nutrient.

Uses:

This is a twiner found in hills. Leaves and. roots are of medicinal use. This could be used in treating.

80 types of arthritis, head ache, fever and otitis. This increases the body strength and acts as aphrodisiac. The root acts as antidote and febrifuge. Tuberculosis, diarrhoea and ulcers also could be treated with this. This is helpful in reducing obesity. Leaf roasted in oil could be used externaHy on abscess which will enhance its ripening and healing. Infusion of the root induces sweating. It is used for conva-lasing patients. It cures indigestion. Juice of the fresh root is used to expel the intestinal worms. Decoction of the root is used to treat gonorrhoea, flatulence in joints and acts as diuretic.

வெற்பேந்தி ஒரு கொடி. மலைகளில் வளருகின்றது. இதன் வேருக்கு ‘வட்டத்திருப்பி” என்பது பெயர். இதன் இலை, வேர் மருத்துவ குணமுடையது.

மலைதாங்கியால் எண்பது விதமான வாதரோகம், சுரம், காது வலி, தலை நோய் முதலியவைகள் நீங்கும். வெற்பேந்தி என்னும் பொன் முசுட்டையால்,உடல் வன்மையடையும், ஆண்மையும் தந்து உடலைக் கல்லைப் போல் அழியாதபடி நிலைக்கச் செய்யும். வித்தானது கட்டுப்படும்.

இதன் வேரால் நஞ்சு. எலும்புருக்கி, கொடிய சுரம் கழிச்சல், சிரங்கு, இவை தீரும். ஊளைச் சதையை நீக்கும். காதுவலி தலைவலி, பித்த சுரம், பேதியை குணமாக்கும். மயக்கம், உட்சூடு தணியும்.

இலையை எண்ணெய் விட்டு வதக்கிக் கட்டிகள் மீது வைத்துக் கட்ட, அவை எளிதில் பழுத்து உடையும். வேரை, வெந்நீர் ஊறலிட்டுக் கொடுக்க, அது வியர்வையை உண்டாக்கும். நோயால் மெலிந்த உடலைத் தேற்றும். செரியாமையைப் போக்கும்.

வயிற்றுப் புழுவை வெளிப்படுத்த, பச்சை வேரைப் பிழிந்த இரசத்தை உள்ளுக்குக் கொடுக்கலாம்.

இதன் வேரை குடிநீரிட்டு, கீல்வாயு நோயிலும், வெள்ளை நோய்களுக்கும் கொடுக்கக் குணமாகும். இது நீரைப் பெருக்கி, உள்ளழலையை ஆற்றும்.
