Whole plant.

Constituents:

Root contains resins and the plant contains Glucokenin.

Action:

Plant is Diaphoretic. Stimulant, Diuretic and Cooling. Leaves and stem are Antispasmodic and Expectorant. Fruit is Bitter.

Uses:

Leaves, fruit, stem and tuber of this plant possess medicinal value. The leaves are used as coolant to eyes. Rheumatism, ulcers, body heat, anarexia could be effectively treated with this. Dysentery could be cured if the leaf extract is consumed in the morning and evening regularly. The leaf extract along with equal amount of gingelly oil if consumed with rice water cures gonorrhoea, anurisis, ulcers and chronic stomach ache. Unriped fruit is effective in eczema, cold, diabetes etc., The tuber is used for leprosy, rheumatism diabetes and phlegmatic disorders,

இது கொடியினத்தைச் சேர்ந்தது. இதன் இலை,காய், வற்றல், தண்டு, கிழங்கு ஆகியவை மருத்துவப் பயனுடையது. இது கைப்புச் சுவையுடையது. கோவை இலை, கண்ணுக்கு குளிர்ச்சி தரும். இருமல். வாதகோபம், பெருவிரணம், சிறுசிரங்கு, தேகச்சூடு. நீரடைப்பு ஆகியவை நீங்கும். இதன் இலைச்சாற்றை காலை, மாலை இருவேளை குடித்தால் சீதபேதி குணமாகும். வெட்டை நோய்க்கு இதன் இலைச்சாற்றுடன் சமஅளவு நல்லெண்ணெய் சேர்த்து நீராகாரத்துடன் விட்டு கலக்கி ஏழு நாட்கள் சாப்பிட்டால் பூரணமாக குணம் பெறலாம். நீரடைப்பு, பெருவிரணம், தீராத வயிற்றுவலி ஆகியவற்றிற்கும் இது சிறந்த மருந்தாகும்.

இதன் காய் கரப்பான், ஜலதோஷம், நீரிழிவு போன்ற தோய்களுக்கு மருந்தாகப் பயன்படுகிறது.

இதன் கிழங்கு குஷ்டரோகங்களுக்கும், பிரமேகம், வாதம், கபம், பித்தம், போன் றவற்றிற்கும் மருந்தாகப் பயன்படுகிறது.
