Action :

Tonic, cooling Demulcent, Diuretic, Emollient, and Laxative, In Unani medicines, it is used in the disease of liver bladder, and lungs.

Uses:

Root infusion, decoction, or its extract is useful as a demulcent, in inflammatory Infections, emollients, and expectorants. Root mixed with lime juice and linseed makes a homely valuable remedy for cough and cold. The decoction made from equal quantities of Atimaddhuram and cumin seeds is used in the treatment of pregnant ladies to check to bleed. It is also used to treat ulcers, thirstiness, eye defects, mental disorders, jaundice, and cough.

இதற்கு அதிங்கம், அஷ்டி, மதூகம், குன்றிவேர், இரட்டிப்பு மதுரம் என்ற பெயர்களும் உண்டு.

முப்பிணியால் வரும் புண்கள், தாகம், கண் நோய்கள், பைத்தியம், விக்கல், வெண்புள்ளி, சிறுநீர் எரிச்சல், எலும்பு நோய்கள், காமாலை முதலியன போக்கும். மேலும் குத்திருமல், சிரநோய் முதலியன போம். இதன் சத்து மூசாம்பழம், நிலவாகை இவைகளைக் கொண்டு செய்கின்ற மருந்துகளின் அருவருப்பை நீக்க உபயோகிக்கப்படுகிறது. சூட்டினால் உண்டாகும் இருமலுக்கு அதிமதுரம், கடுக்காய், மிளகு சமனெடை எடுத்து இளவறுப்பாய் வறுத்து சூரணஞ் செய்து தேனில் சாப்பிட குணமாகும். இது முடியை வளர்க்கக் கூடியது.

மஞ்சள்காமாலைக்கு, அதிமதுரம், முச்சங்கன் வேர்ப்பட்டை இவ்விரண்டையும் சமனெடை எடுத்து எலுமிச்சம்பழச்சாற்றால் அரைத்து மாத்திரை செய்துலர்த்தி பாலில் ஒரு நாளைக்கு இருமுறை வீதம் 3 நாள் கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.

கர்ப்பவதிகளுக்குக் காணும் உதிரம் நிற்க அதிமதுரம், சீரகம் இரண்டையும் இடித்துப் போட்டு நீரிலிட்டு பாதியாகக் காய்ச்சி காலை மாலை 3 அல்லது 4 நாட்கள் கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.

கண்கள் ஒளிபெற அதிமதுரத்தை முலைப்பால் விட்டரைத்து கண்ணில்விடவேண்டும். சிற்றாமணக்கு நெய்தடவி, குன்றியிலையை ஒட்டவைக்க பிடிப்பும் சுளுக்கும் குணமாகும்.

இளமையில் போக சக்தியை இழந்துவிட்ட வாலிபர்களுக்கு அதிமதுரம் ஒரு ஒரு புத்துயிரளிக்கும் அருமருந்தாகப் பழங்காலத் திலிருந்தே கருதப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

காக்கைவலிப்பு குணப்படும். நாசிரத்தம் வருவதை நிறுத்தும். ஆயுள் நீடிக்கச் செய்யும். படர்தாமரையை குணப்படுத்தும் குணமுண்டு.
