Action:

Alterative, Gastric Stimulant and Appetizer Locally it is Vesicant.

Uses:

The flower is pink in colour. The root gives tingling effect to the tongue. Owing to this vesicant or blis-tering properties the bruished root tempered with bland oil such as sessamum oil is used as a rubifacient in bubo and as an external application in rheumatic arthritis, swelling, gout. lumbago etc., in venereal complaints, syphilis, nervous head aches, migrane and other diseases. An application of this oil sometimes inflames the skin, and even blisters it and raises. boil in the affected part. It is an abortifacient

This powder is taken in along with cow’s ghee or honey in an auspicious day all the ailments in the system including dropsy will be cured.

செங்கொடி வேளியின் பூ வெளிறிய சிவப்பு நிறமுடையது. வேரை நசிக்க விறுவிறுப்பையுண்டாக்கும். உடம்பின் தோலில் போட வெந்து போகச் செய்யும். ஆகவே இதை வாய்வு. வீக்கம். சூலைப்பிடிப்பு, நரித்தலை வாதம், இடுப்பு வலி, மேகப் படை, அரையாப்பு, மண்டையிடி, தலைவலி முதலிய நோய்களுக்கு இவ்வேரை எண்ணெயில் போட்டுக் காய்ச்சி இறுத்துப் பூசத் தோலைச் சிவக்கச் செய்து குணப்படுத்தும்.

இது கர்ப்பத்தை அழிக்கக் கூடியது. இதன் வேர்ப்பட்டையைக் கருப்பையின் வாயில் வைக்க கருப்பை புண்ணாகி கருவை வெளிப்படுத்தும். இதை மேகம், உதிரக்கட்டு, குட்டம் இவைகளுக்கு தகுந்த அளவில் உட்கொள்ள குணம் தரும்.

இது கபம், வீக்கம், வாதம், வயிற்றுப்புழு, பாண்டு முதலிய வற்றையும் சூலைஅகசன்னி, வாய்வு, மந்த சுரம், தலை நோய் ஆகிய வைகளையும் கண்டிக்கும்.செஞ்சித்ரமூலம் செம்பை பஸ்பமாக்கும்.
