Action: 

Juice has Tonic, Alterative, Astringent, Aphrodisiac and Laxative properties. Dried flowers are Demulcent. Roots are Stimulant and Tonie effect. Unripe fruits are regarded as Demulcent and Astringent.

Uses:

Gum is useful as a styptic. Powder is given with milk as a good tonic for impotence and to children as a cooling laxative. Dried flowers are boiled with poppy seeds, goat’s milk and sugar. It is given three times a day in haemory -hoids. Young roots form a chief ingredient in aphrodisiac medicines. Leaves are ground into paste and administered in treating gonorrhoea.

இதன் இலைகள் கொழகொழப்புத் தன்மையுடையது. பிரசவக் காலத்தில் தாய்மார்களுக்கு இதன் கஷாயத்தைக் கொடுத்து வளிகுறைய வைப்பார்கள். விஷம் குடித்து விட்டவர் களுக்கு அந்த விஷத்தை முறிக்க இதன் பட்டைச்சாற்றை கொடுத்து முறிப்பார்கள். மராட்டி மொக்குக்குப் பதிலாக இதை கடையில் கலந்து விற்பார்கள். இதன் காயிலிருந்துக் கிடைக்கும் பஞ்சு விலை உயர்வுள்ளது. இதன் மருத்துவ பயனைவிட இதன் பஞ்சு உற்பத்திக்காகவே இம்மரத்தினை வளர்க்கிறார்கள்.

 இம்மரத்திலிருந்து கிடைக்கும் கோந்து மருந்து சூரணங்களை இறுக்கி குனிகைகளாக்க உதவும்.
