  Oil is extracted from the kernel of the seeds which contains an active principle known as gynocardiac acid.

Action:

Alterative, Stimulant and Parasiticide.

Uses:

It is a large evergreen tree. Oil is extracted from the kernel of the seeds. According to Ayurveda and Siddha there are 18 varieties of leprosy of which some of them are regarded as psoriasis, eczema, ulcers etc. The active principle of this oil is gynocardiac acid and this should not be confounded with tuvaraka oil (Hydnocarpus venenata or H. kurzii).

Oil is extracted from the kernel and is reddish in colour This is employed for all the forms of leprosy, it is highly

useful in cases of tubercula anasthetic and mixed leprosy.

This oil is mixed with margosa oil or oil of pongamia glabra etc. It is applied to cure leprosy, eczema and syphillis. It is administered with great advantage in scorfula, chronic rheumatism psoriasis and other cutaneous affections.

இம்மரத்தின் விதை எண்ணெய் பல மருத்துவப் பயன்களை உடையது. ஆயுர்வேதம், சித்த மருத்துவம் ஆகியவற்றில் குட்ட நோய் 18 வகையாகப் பிரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அவற்றில் சில கரப்பான், ஆணை சொறி முதலியனவாகும். இந்த எண்ணெயின் குணங்களே நீரடிமுத்து எண்ணெய்க்கும் உண்டு. இது கிடைக்காத சமயங்களில் துவரக்காய் எண்ணெயைப் பயன்படுத்தலாம்.

சால்முகுரா  விதையிலிருந்து எடுக்கும் எண்ணெய் சால்முகுரா எண்ணெய் எனப்படும். இவ்வெண்ணெய் சிவந்த நிறத்துடன் காணப்படும். இது புளிப்புச்சத்துடையது. இது எல்லாவித குட்ட நோய்களுக்கும் பயன்படும். இதை வேப்பெண்ணெய் அல்லது புங்கெண்ணெயோடு கலந்து வாதப் பிடிப்பு, கண்டமாலை, சரும் நோய் இவைகளுக்கு உள்ளுக்குக் கொடுக்க குணமேற்படும். இருந் காலும் உள்ளுக்குக் கொடுக்கும் மருந்துகளை விட மேற்பூச்சு மருந்துகளிலேயே இது பெரிதும்   பயன்படுகிறது. குறிப்பாக  சோரியாஸிஸ் (ஆணைசொறி) எனப்படும் சரும நோயில் இது சிறப்பாக  செயல்பட்டு   பிணியை  நீக்கும். இந்தியாவிலிருந்து ஏற்றுமதியாகும் மருந்து எண்ணெய்களில் இதுவும் ஒன்று.
