Constituents:

Seeds yield an oil, amorphous alkaloid and toxic resin.

Action:

Fruit is Cooling and Cholagogue. Seeds and leaves are Anthelmintic, Detergent and Insecti-cide. Root is Purgative. Bark is Astringent and Toxic.

Uses:

This includes in a family of small tree. Leaves,

bark, root, seeds and fruits are used in medicinal preparations. Leaf juice, if it is used as nasal drops cures unconsiousness. The paste made out of leaves and fruit without water is an ideal curative for skin ulcers and eczema. It acts as an anthelmintic if taken internally. The infusion of the bark increases the body weight. The paste of root bark with water acts as purgative, but the unriped fruit stops dysentery and diarrhoca. The ripened fruit is used to treat burns and also given in delirium. The sharbath made out of fruit reduces the body temperature. Powdered seed, if applied in the skin ulcers, cleans the ulcers and helps for faster healing. Powdered seed if taken in recommended dosses aborts pregnancy.

சிறுமர வகுப்பைச் சேர்ந்த சித்தாவின் இலை,பட்டை, வேர், விதை, காய், பழம் அனைத்தும் மருத்துவப் பயனுடையது.

இலைச்சாற்றை மூக்கில் பிழிய மயக்கம் போகும். இலையை யும், காயையும் நீர்விடாமல் அரைத்து புண்களுக்கும், கொப்புளங்களுக்கும் பூச எளிதில் குணமாகும். உள்ளுக்கு சாப்பிட புழுக்களை கொன்று வெளிப்படுத்தும். பட்டை குடிநீர் உடல் வன்மையை பெருக்கும்.

வேர்ப்பட்டையை அரைத்து தக்க அளவில் நீரில் கலந்து கொடுக்க கழியும். வேரை அரைத்துக் கொடுக்க பேதியாகும்.

துவர்ப்புடைய இதன் காய் கழிச்சல் சித்தபிரமையை குண மாக்கும். இதன் மணப்பாகு உடன் வெப்பத்தைத் தணிக்கும். விதையைப் பொடித்து புண்களின் மீது தூவ, அவைகளிலுள்ள அழுக்கை அகற்றி, அவைகளை எளிதில் ஆற்றும். இதைத் தருந்த அளவில் உட்கொள்ள கர்ப்பம் சிதைக்கும். பெண் உறுப்பு சரிப்படும்.
