Similar to Basella alba.

Uses:

Tender leaves and stem could be taken raw. It exhibits all the medicinal properties of B. cordifolia. This plant reduces thirstyness and removes constipation in pregnant Indies. If this leaves are soaked in water, the water becomes viscous. This could be used as an application on the head and forehead which induces sleep. Heated leaves could be used as external application for oedema. Pyogenous ulcers could be treated with this paste of the leaves. If this is consumed with green grams it reduces biliousness, gonorrhoea skin diseases, dysentery etc. The juice of the stem is given to small children for better growth. Sugar candy with juice of the leaves removes phlegm and cold. This plant is very nutritious.

இதற்கு கொடிப்பசறை, கொடியலை போன்ற பெயர்களும் உண்டு. இதன் இளந்தண்டுகளையும், கீரைகளையும் பச்சையாக உண்ணலாம். இக்கீரையில் உடலுக்கு தேவையான எல்லா சத்துக் களும் உள்ளது.

தோய்தடுப்பு சக்தி உள்ள இக்கீரையில் மூத்திர தடுப்பு, நீர் அடைப்பு, வெள்ளை மற்றும் ருசியின்மை, வாந்தி ஆகிய நோய்கள் நீங்கும்.

இக்கீரை தாகத்தையும், சூட்டையும் தணிக்கும். கர்ப்பமுற்ற பெண்களுக்கு மலச்சிக்கல் வராமல் தடுக்கும். இக்கீரையை நீரிட்டு அசை ஒருவிதமான குழகுழப்பான பசை உண்டாகும். இதை நெற்றி யில் தடவ தலைவரி நீருவதுடன் உறக்கம் வரும்.

இலையை வதக்கி வீக்கம், கட்டி போன்றவைகளுக்கு வைத்துக் கட்டலாம். கீழ்ப்பிடித்த புண்களை ஆற்றவும் சீழை வெளியேற்றவும் இதை அரைத்துப் பற்று போட வேண்டும்.

இதனை பாசிப்பருப்புடன் உண்ண அதிகப்பித்தம், நீர்த் தாரை சம்பந்தப்பட்ட வெட்டை நோய்கள். மேகம், தோல் நோய்கள்,சீதபேதி ஆகியவை குணமாகும். சிறு குழந்தைகளுக்கு இதன் தண்டின் சாற்றைக் கொடுக்க அவர்களின் சீரண வளர்ச்சிக்குப் பெருதலியாக இருக்கும் இலைச்சாற்றுடன் கற்கண்டு சோத்துக் கொடுக்க குழந்தைகளுக்கு உண்டாரும் சளி, நீர்க்கோவை போன்ற நோய்கள் தீரும்.

இக்கீரை தாலுவை கெட்டிப்படுத்தி ஆண் பெண் உறவில் நிறைவை உண்டாக்கும்.
