Action:

Flowers are Stimulant, Expectorant, Aperient, Diaphoretic. Insectiside and Emmenagogue. Plant is Laxative, Antipyretic, Expectorant. Stimulant, Emmenagogue. Antidote and Alexi-pharmic.

Uses:

Flowers are used as stimulant, expectorant and laxative. Juice of the leaves gives relief from headache, phlegmatic disorders and rheumatism. Leaf juice mixed with the leaf juice of pergularia extensa, if given to children, gives relief from diarrhoea, indigestion and other stomach disorders. Leaves are made into a paste, if given acts as an antidote for scorpion sting and snake bite.

Flowers are mixed with gingelly oil and boiled. This oil is rubbed on the head before having a bath to get relief from head ache, heaviness of the head, fainting and cole. Decoction of flower is given thrice a day to cure thirst, eye disorders, neurasthenia. Leaves are made into a paste if taken along with gingelly oil in the morning for 4 days, it cures menarrhagia. Flowers are used to cure amenorrhoea. Juice of the leaves mixed with common salt is an excellant application for itching and other skin diseases. Juice of the flower is sniffed up as a remedy for chronic head ache.

தும்பை உடலுக்கு மிக்க சூட்டைத் தரக் கூடியது. கபத்தை அறுத்து மலத்தை இளக்கும். இலைச்சாறு தலைவலி, சிலேட்டும் நோய்.வாத நோய் இவைகளை குணப்படுத்தும்.

தும்பை இலைச் சாற்றுடன் உத்தாமணி இலைச் சாற்றைக் கலந்து குழந்தைகளுக்குக் கொடுக்க பேதி, மாந்தம், வயிற்றுக் கோளாறுகள் நீங்கும்.

தும்பை இலையை அரைத்து உள்ளுக்குக் கொடுக்க தேன்கடி விஷம் முறியும்.

பாம்புக்கடிக்குத் தும்பைப்பூ தல்லப் பலனைக் கொடுக்கும். தும்பைப்பூவை நல்லெண்ணெயிலிட்டுக் காய்ச்சி தலை முழுகி வர உடற்சூடு தணிவதுடன் கண்ணோய்கள், தலைபாரம், மயக்கம், ஜல தோஷம் இவை நீங்கும். பூக்கஷாயத்தை தினம் மூன்று வேளை சாப்பிட்டு வர கண்ணோய்கள் தீரும்.

பெரும்பாடு குணமாக இலையை அரைத்து நல்லெண்ணெ யுடன் கலந்து காலை வேளையில் 7 நாட்கள் தொடர்த்து சாப்பிட குணமாகும்.

பூக்கஷாயம் தாகவிடாய், சன்னிபாதசுரம், கண்ணோய் இவைகளைப் போக்கும். தீராத தலைவலிக்கு பூச்சாற்றை இரண்டு துளி மூக்கில் விட வேண்டும். இது கருவங்க சத்துள்ளது.
