Parts used:

Root, bark, fruit and leaves.

Constituents:

Root contains viscid oil and resin. Fruit contains organic acids, resin and tannin.

Action :

Demulcent, Stomachic, Bitter, Tonic, Laxatives, Emollient and Refrigerant. Fruit is Bitter and Cooling. Extract of root is Bitter and Tonic.

Uses:

The extract of the stem dissolved in cold water is an ideal medicine for gonorrhoea, dysuria and urinary bladder disorders. This is also found very effective in burning sensation due to diabetes and dengue fever.

Decoction of the root is given in cough, rheumatism, accompanying gout, indigestion etc., Infusion of leaves is useful in gonorrhoea and catarrh of the bladder.
