Action:

Fresh juice of the seeds is Astringent. Flowers when fresh are Cooling, Demulant, Expectorant, Tonic, Nutritive and Stimulant. Bark is Astrin-gent and Tonic.

Uses:

Fruit is edible. The action and properties are similar to bassia longifolia. The kernels yield a concrete oil which is known as ‘Illupai ghee and is useful for application in skin diseases and it relieves pain in chronic Theumatism. The decoction of the bark is a remedy for rheumatic affections, rubbed on the body it cures itch.

பொதுவாக இலுப்பை மரத்தின் இலை, வேர், பட்டைகளுக்கு உள்ள குணங்களே இதற்கும் பொருந்தும். வேறு சிறப்பு இயல்புகள் இதற்கு இல்லை.

இதன் பட்டையிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்ட கஷாயம் வாத நோயினால் உண்டாகும் பல தொல்லைகளை நீக்குகிறது. இதை எரிச்சல் உள்ள இடங்களில் பூச உடன் நீங்கும்.
