It contains “an essential volatile oil’ and ‘”ant ) alkaloid Pellitorin” or “Pyrethrin'”.

Action :

Cordial, Stimulant, Astringent, Rubefacient and Sialogogue. Root is valuable sialogogue and is regarded as a tonic to the nervous system.

Uses :

It is a commonly available root. The extract and the juice of Akkaru Rasam are used as an antirheumatic. The decoction is used to treat the dryness of the mouth and throat. This has got the property of increasing the heartbeat. It is a good servant stimulator when given along with ginseng. Because of its saliva secretion property, it is generally used along with the appetizer medicines.

அக்ரகாரம் ஒரு கடைச்சரக்கு. இதன் சாரமும் சாறும் வாத நோய்க்கு உதவும். இதனை கஷாயம் வைத்து அருந்தினால் தொண்டை நாவறட்சியை அடக்கும். இதயத் துடிப்பை தூண்டும். பல்நோய், நரம்புத் தளர்ச்சி முதலியவற்றில் அமுக்கிராக்கிழங்கின் சூரணத்துடன் இதனை நாட்டு மருத்துவர்கள் பயன்படுத்துவர். உமிழ்நீரை சுரக்கச் செய்கின்ற தன்மை அக்ரகாரத்திற்கு உண்டாத லால் இதனைப் பசி தீபனம் எடுக்கும் மருந்துகளில் சேர்ப்பது வழக்கிலிருக்கிறது. மேலும் இதனால் பல்வலி, உள்நாக்கு வளர்ச்சி, தொண்டைக் கம்மல், நா அசைவற்றுப் போதல், தொண்டை வறட்சி நீங்கும். இதன் தனிச் சூரணத்தை மூக்கிலிட காக்கை வலிப்பு சாந்தமாகும்.
