Action :

Stimulant, Antispasmodic, Carminative, Aroma-tic, Deobstruent and Emmenagogue.

Uses:

Dried and fresh root of this plant exhibit medi-cinal property. This cures epilepsy and diarrhoea. It regulates

the heart beat. The oil extracted from this, if used as hair oil it helps the hair to grow thick and black.

Dried root in combination with certain oils it forms a fragrant and cooling liniment for the head. It is used in perfumes. Powdered drug is prescribed in cases of menstrual disorders, swoon, epilepsy and convulsive affections. Medicated oil and tincture are chiefly used for epilepsy.

Root is used as an ingredients of medicines for leprosy. septic poison from ulcers, chronic fevers, internal heat, flatulent diarrhoea, blood pressure, opthalmia etc. It also acts as an appetizer. This also cures rheumatic boring pain, palpitation of the heart and difficulty in breathing.

இதை சடாமஞ்சி, தகரம் என்றும் கூறுவர். இது சிலந்தி. நஞ்சு, பழைய சுரம், உட்சூடு, வாய்வு, கழிச்சல், கண்நோய்கள். இருமல், குகுதியழல், இரைப்பு போன்ற நோய்களுக்கான மருந்துகள் தயாரிக்கப் பயன்படுகிறது.காக்கை வலிப்பு, பேதி முதலியவற்றைக் கட்டுப்படுத்தும். இருதய துடிப்பைச் சீராக்கும் . இதிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்படும் எண்ணெய்யை தலையில் தேய்க்க மயிர் கருமையாக, நன்றாக வளரும்.உலர்ந்த வேரை எண்ணெய்யுடன் சேர்த்து தலைக்குத் தடவ குளிர்ச்சி தரும். இது வாசனைத் தைலங்களிலும் திரவியங்களிலும் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. இதை பொடித்து உள்ளுக்குக் கொடுக்க சூதகவாயு, மூர்ச்சை, காக்கைவலி, இசிவு முதலியன குணமாகும்.மேலும் இவ்வேரால் குட்டம், சிலந்தி விஷம், பழைய சுரம் உட்சூடு, வாயு பேதி, இரத்தபித்தம், கண் நோய், காசம் இவை நீரும். மேலும் வாதக் குடைச்சலை நிவர்த்திக்கும்.
