Dried inner bark of the shoots and essential oil.

Constituents:

A’volatile oil, cinnamic acid, resin and tannika.

Action :

Bark is Stimulant, Carminatiue, Astringent, Aphrodisiac, Aromatic, Antiseptic, Stomachic, Germicide, Haemostatic, and Anti-spasmodic.

Uses:

This spice is the bark of young shoots. The bark is used in the from of infusion, decoction, and powder, Oil is used in bow complaints such as dyspepsia flextulency, diarrhoea and vomiting. It is employed as an purgatives and astringents in bitter tonics. As a stimulant of the uterine muscular fibre it is used in uterine tonics. The essential oil is used in flavouring sweets and as a powerful stimulant in a menorrhoea. The bark chewed relieves nausea and vomiting. It is used internally as germicide in typhoid fever and as an antiseptic in gonorrhoea.

இது இலையுதிராத மரம். இலவங்கப்பட்டை, காரமும். இனிப்பும் உடையது. பலவித விஷம், வாதம், சுவாச காசம் நீக்கும். சுக்கில நஷ்டத்தை சரிப்படுத்தும். கர்ப்பபையை சுருக்க, இதனை கஷாயம் வைத்து சாப்பிடுவார்கள். பெரும்பாடு நிற்க இத்துடன் ஆவாரம். பட்டையைச் சேர்த்து கஷாயம் வைத்துச் சாப்பிடு வார்கள்.

இருமல், உள்மூலப்புண் ஆகியவற்றைப் போக்கி உடலுக்குக் குளிர்ச்சி உண்டாக்கும் ஆற்றல் இலவங்கப் பட்டைக்கு உண்டு. பட்டையை இடித்துக் கடல் நீரில் ஊறவைத்து மெதுவாக்கிய பிறகு முழுவதையும் விரைவாக வாலை வடித்து இதிலிருந்து எண்ணெயைப் பிரிப்பார்கள். இந்த எண்ணெயின் மணம் கருதி சாக்லேட்டுகள், மதுவகைகள், வாசனை பொருட்கள். முதலியவற்றில் பயன்படுத்துகிறார்கள்.
