(N. O. Euphorbiaceae)

Habit:

Tree

Parts used :

Leaves, Fruit or nat, Husks of the fruit. Bark of the tree.

Constituent :

Seeds yield a fixed oil, juglandic acid and resin; Fruits contain oxalic acid and an alkolloid ‘barium’.

Action :

Anthelmintic, Antiseptic, Leaves are Alterative and Astringent. Unripe fruit is a vermifuge. Kernel possesses aphrodisiac properties. Husks of fruit possess vermifuge and antisyphilitic properties.

Uses:

Though it is imported plant, it is now plenty available in India. The sweet kernel of its is a Refrigerent. The oil is used as a body coolant. It is also used as a laxative. The ash of it’s husk is used in making various medicines.

இது இறக்குமதி செய்யப்பட்ட தாவர வகை என்றாலும் இந்தியாவில் தற்போது விளைவிக்கப்படுகிறது. இனிப்புச் சுவை யுடைய இதன் பருப்பு உடலுக்கு குனிர்ச்சி தரவல்லது. அழற்சியை போக்குவதில் முதல் தரமானது. இதன் எண்ணெய் தேக அனலை நீக்கும். மலச்சிக்கலைப் போக்கும். இதன் ஓடுகளை எரித்து கரியாக்கி சரும மருந்து செய்முறையில் பயன்படுத்துவார்கள்.

Nuts, Kernel and oil of Seeds.

Constituent:

Kernel contains cellulose, fat, organic matter inorganic matter and ash containing lime, magnesium phosphoric unhydride etc. seeds yield fixed oil,

Aetion  :

The oil contains an acridresin in which reside the purgative principle. The kernl is an astringent alternative cholagogue and laxative, pungent, cathartic, cooling and ansibllions.

Uses:

This has got a similar properties of “Seemai Acrot” (Jugulans regia). But this is mainly used to regain the vitality by consuming it along with Karuvelam gum mixed with milk at night.

சீமை அக்ரோட்டின் குணங்களே இதற்கும் பொருந்தும் என்றாலும் தாது பலம் குறைந்தவர்கள் இத்துடன் கருவேலம்பிசின் சிறிது சேர்த்தரைத்து பாலில் கலந்து இரவில் பருகிவர தாது வலிமை அடைத்து குழந்தைப் பெற வாய்ப்பு ஏற்படும்.
