Habit:

Creeping herb

Parts used:

Fibrous wing roots from the rhizome

Constituents:

A volatile essential oil, resin, colouring matter, a free acid, a salt of lime, oxide of iron and woody matters.

Action:

Tonic, Refrigerant, Stomachic, Stimulont, Antispasmodic, Diaphoretic, Diuretic and Emmenagogue.

Uses:

Root of this herb is aromatic. Infusion of the roots cures diabetese, burning of the eyes, thirstyness, hysteria, giddiness, anaemia, head ache and fever. Roots are made into a paste and if rubbed on the skin, cures burning sensation of the body. Oil made by this root if rubbed on the head before having a bath cures giddiness, burning of the eyes and fever.

This is made into a paste and applied regularly to cure breast cancer. Decoction of the root cures rheumatism and biliousness. This also cures jaundice and leprosy.

விலாமிச்சுவேர். இப்பூண்டின் வேருக்கு நறுமணமுண்டு. இதன் குடிநீரை அருந்த நீரிழிவு, கண்ணெரிவு, குருதியழல் நோய். நீர்வேட்கை, வெறி, மயக்கம், சோபை, தலையழல் நீச்சுரம் தீரும். இதை அரைத்து உடலில் தேய்க்க உடலெரிச்சல் தீரும். இதன் தைலத்தைத் தேய்த்து தலைமுழுகினால் மேற்கண்ட நோய்கள் நீரும். வெளிப்பூச்சு மருந்தாக இதை அரைத்துப் பயன்படுத்த மார்பு சிலந்தி குணப்படும். இதன் கஷாயத்தினால், வாத-பித்தம் தணியும், காமாலையும், குஷ்டமும் தீரும். இதையே வெட்டிவேர் என்பர்.
